How To Cure Your Intention Deficit Disorder

How To Cure Your Intention Deficit Disorder

“Clear thinking requires courage rather than intelligence.” – Thomas Szasz

Curing your intention deficit disorder is key to realizing your fullest potential.

It is possible for you to become a much more powerful creator. But it’s only obtainable through real inner work.

As an example, a CEO client of mine who was also acting as the head of sales complained that he hadn’t closed a new deal for several months. He believed this problem was due to their product and marketing departments.

In one of our first sessions together he realized that if he continued to think (and operate) like he was, the company would go bankrupt. He saw that he lacked confidence in his sales skills, feared rejection and was suffering from a lack of joy in selling. As a result, he was intentionally (but unconsciously) avoiding this work and used blame as a defense against his feelings of failure.

When this became clear he was able to set new intentions designed to win new business and shift into a more successful mindset. We also removed the fears that were holding him back and created a newfound joy in the process of creating sales.

Within a few weeks of this inner breakthrough he signed the two biggest deals in company history.

This is what Albert Einstein referred to when he said,

“We can’t solve our problems with the same mind that created them.”

Seeing things from a different level of consciousness creates possibilities for new and more powerful intentions.

An intention is not a goal. Goals are an outcome realized in the future. Intentions are realized in the present moment. It’s an inner direction needing no external validation.

A goal says “make a million dollars by the end of 2020.”

An intention says “I intend to create and experience abundance in all of its forms.” It doesn’t have a clearly defined outcome – but it has an infinite amount of possibilities. It can also be realized immediately.

You can choose to act on this intention and experience an inner state of abundance right now. If this isn’t immediately apparent, then practice making this shift by using your imagination to picture and feel your way into this state. Do this as vividly as you can. With practice, your envisioned state will become second nature, similar to how actors can effortlessly shift into the way of being of the character they have been practicing playing.

If your intentions are in conflict you will experience a lack of focus and power (“I intend to experience financial abundance.”; “I intend to be stingy with my money.”). This is an inner problem and no amount of skills training or external changes will resolve it.

What you need is deep coaching that cures your intention deficit disorder. Change the inner place from which you operate and your problem will be gone forever.

This happens one powerful coaching conversation at a time.
